Expanding Food Security

for All South Carolinians

MEET THE TEAM

OUR MISSION

Through a connected network of programs, partnerships, and purpose-built facilities, Feed & Seed Co. works to improve the health and well-being of South Carolinians by expanding access to fresh, nutritious, locally grown foods. Our mission is rooted in creating a sustainable, resilient food system—one where profitable farms, independent markets, and community access grow together.

At the heart of this mission is our community-driven Food Innovation Hub, a dynamic, multi-use space designed to empower farmers, food makers, and local organizations. The Hub offers the essential infrastructure, equipment, and support systems needed to help producers scale, innovate, and thrive. Acting as a true food-system concierge, we bridge gaps across the Upstate’s Food and Nutrition System, strengthening supply chains, increasing distribution of affordable fresh food, and ensuring that nutritious options reach every corner of the community.

Together, we’re building a healthier future, one harvest, one partner, and one community at a time.

Some perfectly good food never gets eaten. It might be because a farmer can’t afford to harvest the entire field without a confirmed buyer. For our farmers, we provide greater security to invest in producing marketable products where they have a comparative advantage in the industry while providing more local produce to our community.

HOW WE GOT HERE

Feed & Seed Co. began with a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food. Yet across South Carolina, gaps in distribution networks and layers of complex bureaucracy often prevent local produce from reaching the communities that need it most—especially families living in food deserts and historically underserved neighborhoods. Feed & Seed Co. was created to remove those barriers and build a better, more equitable food system.

By partnering with local farmers, wholesalers, community organizations, and mission-driven collaborators, Feed & Seed Co. has developed a network of programs that streamline the journey from farm to table. These partnerships help close critical gaps in sourcing, aggregation, processing, and distribution—ensuring that local food moves efficiently and affordably throughout the region.

In 2022, we expanded this mission with the opening of the Food Innovation Hub in Greenville, SC—a collaborative, community-centered facility dedicated to food, farming, and education in the Upstate. The Hub serves as an anchor for food-system innovation, providing space, resources, and support for growers, food makers, educators, and nonprofits to work together toward shared goals.

With the dedication of our team and the strength of our community partners, we’re committed to driving long-term, systemic change in how local food moves across South Carolina—so that everyone can eat healthily, locally, and with dignity.
